Deleting a track
You can delete a track you've uploaded if you want to remove it from the cloud library. Deletion is permanent — there's no way to recover a track once it's deleted from the cloud.
Who can delete a track?
Tracks are linked to the device that uploaded them using a device code. Only that device can delete a track. This prevents other people from accidentally (or deliberately) deleting your recordings.
Deleting from the Android app
- Open the Dinghy Coach app and tap the overflow menu
⋮→ Sessions. - Find the session you want to delete.
- Tap and hold the session row, or tap the
⋮menu on that row. - Select Delete.
- A dialog asks whether to delete the local file only, or also delete the cloud copy. Choose Delete cloud copy if you want it removed from the debrief library.
Selecting "delete cloud copy" queues a deletion request that is sent when your device is online. If you're offline, it will be sent automatically the next time you connect.
Deleting from the web app (admin)
If you have admin access to your club's Dinghy Coach setup:
- Go to app.dinghy.coach/admin/tracks.
- Find the track using the search filters.
- Tick the checkbox on the track row.
- Tap Delete DB+Object to remove the track from both the database and cloud storage.
The admin delete does not require the original device — it requires the admin token.
What happens when a track is part of a saved session?
If the track is already included in a saved session (a coach debrief with multiple boats), deleting the track removes it from the cloud but the session record remains. The session will show that track as missing if someone tries to load it.
Before deleting, consider whether the track is part of an active debrief that other sailors or coaches might still be viewing.
I deleted a track by mistake
Deleted tracks cannot be recovered from the cloud. However, the original recording on the Android device is a separate local file. If the local file still exists (and hasn't been deleted separately), you can re-upload it from the Sessions screen by tapping Retry or Upload.
