Find your tracks with your device code

Find your tracks with your device code

Dinghy Coach doesn't use accounts or logins. Instead, each device gets a unique 7-character code that's used to filter the track library to your own recordings.

What is the device code?

Your device code is a short uppercase identifier — something like A3F9K2M — generated from your device's ID. It's stable: the same device always produces the same code. It's not a password and doesn't need to be kept secret, but it's not guessable either.

Finding your device code on Android

  1. Open the Dinghy Coach app.
  2. Tap the overflow menu on the start screen.
  3. Tap About.
  4. Your device code is shown in the dialog. Tap it to open your track library directly in the browser, or tap the copy button to copy it to your clipboard.

Finding your device code in the web app

If you've uploaded tracks from a browser (via the import page), the device code for that browser is stored locally. It's shown in the URL when you filter the track library — look for ?deviceHash= in the address bar after filtering.

Using your device code to find your tracks

  1. Go to app.dinghy.coach/open and tap the Tracks tab.
  2. In the filter bar, enter your 7-character device code in the Device field.
  3. The list updates to show only tracks recorded by your device.

You can bookmark the filtered URL so you can jump straight to your tracks next time.

Sharing your device code

Your coach or club administrator may ask for your device code so they can find your track after racing. You can share it by:

  • Tapping your code in the About dialog (Android) — this opens a pre-filtered track library page you can share directly
  • Copying and pasting it into your club's messaging channel

Device code and track ownership

Your device code also determines which tracks you can delete. Only the device that uploaded a track can delete it from the cloud. If you get a new phone, your old tracks are still accessible to view and debrief, but deletion from the new device won't be possible unless you note your old device code (tracks uploaded from the old device are still associated with its code).
