First replay: upload a track

The quickest way to try Dinghy Coach is to upload a GPS track you already have. No account needed — just a file and a browser.

What you need

A GPS track from your watch, chartplotter, or sailing instrument. Dinghy Coach accepts:

  • Garmin FIT (.fit) — from Garmin watches and handhelds
  • GPX (.gpx) — the most common GPS exchange format
  • TCX (.tcx) — training files from Garmin Connect and others
  • Vakaros CSV or VKX (.csv, .vkx) — from Vakaros Atlas instruments
  • DTRK (.dtrk) — recorded directly by the Dinghy Coach Android app

If you're not sure what format your device exports, check the sharing or export options in its companion app and look for any of the extensions above.

Step 1 — Open the import page

Go to app.dinghy.coach/import on a tablet or desktop browser. This works on any modern browser; no install required.

Step 2 — Choose your file

Tap or click Choose file and select your GPS file. Dinghy Coach detects the format automatically — you don't need to tell it what type of file it is.

The file is converted and uploaded directly from your browser. Nothing is sent to a server for processing; all the work happens on your device.

Step 3 — Wait for the upload to finish

A progress indicator shows the upload status. Most files finish in a few seconds on a normal connection. Larger files (long passages, multi-hour sessions) may take a little longer.

Step 4 — The debrief opens automatically

Once the upload completes, the debrief view opens with your track on screen. You'll see:

  • Your route drawn on a chart
  • A playback scrubber at the bottom
  • A sidebar with tabs for Boats, Stats, Segments, Course, and Notes

Press Play to watch your session back, or drag the scrubber to jump to any point.

What's next?

  • Add a second boat — load another track to compare two sailors side by side
  • Set wind direction — tap the Course tab, then the compass icon to set wind; this unlocks VMG and tack/gybe analysis
  • Save and share — tap Save in the top bar, then Share to send a link to your sailors
