Open and share a debrief
Once tracks are uploaded, you can open them for playback, annotate them, and share a live link with your sailors — all without anyone needing an account.
Open the track library
Go to app.dinghy.coach/open. You'll see two tabs:
- Sessions — saved debriefs that include multiple boats, course setup, and notes
- Tracks — individual GPS tracks that haven't been combined into a session yet
Load tracks for debrief
From the Tracks tab:
- Use the venue filter or date range to find the tracks you want.
- Tick the checkbox on each track you want to load (you can select multiple boats at once).
- Tap Open selected — the debrief view opens with all selected tracks loaded.
From the Sessions tab:
Tap any saved session to open it directly. All boats, course markings, and notes are restored exactly as saved.
Play back the session
The debrief view shows all loaded boats on a chart. Use the controls at the bottom:
- Play / Pause — starts and stops the replay
- Scrubber — drag to jump to any moment
- Speed — tap to cycle through replay speeds (1×, 2×, 4×, 8×)
Each boat is shown as a coloured marker. The trail behind it shows recent track history.
The sidebar tabs

Save the session
Tap Save in the top bar. Dinghy Coach creates a session that stores:
- Which tracks are loaded
- Course setup (wind, marks, lines)
- Any segments you've created
- PY handicap settings
The session is saved to the cloud. A write token is stored on your device so only you (from this browser) can overwrite it.
Share with sailors
Once saved, tap Share in the top bar. A popup offers:
- Copy link — copies the session URL to your clipboard
- WhatsApp — opens WhatsApp with the link pre-filled
- Email — opens your email client with the link pre-filled
- Share — uses your device's native share sheet
Anyone with the link can open the session in their browser and watch the replay — no account or app needed. The session is public by default (readable by anyone with the link).
