Almost everyone has a GPS Device in their pocket or on their wrist that is capable of recording a GPS Track. Dedicated Sailing Computers are also available for those wanting a high end solution
For example:-
Android Phone
Apple iPhone
Apple Watch
Garmin Watch
Corus Watch
Dedicated sailing computers such as Vakaros, Sailteck or Sailmon etc
The list is not exhaustive - if you have a Smart Phone or Wearable that records a GPS Track you can probably use it.
Note that device accuracy can vary. For example, a Fitbit wearable may not have the same accuracy as a high end Corus or Garmin Watch. We recommend that recording is done at a minimum of 1hz
Android Phone
If you have an Android Phone we recommend you use the dedicated Dinghy Coach App available in the Play Store.

This will automatically upload the track to Dinghy Coach at the end of the session.

Apple iPhone or Apple Watch
If you have an Apple device we recommend you use the free Open GPX Tracker software available in the Apple App Store

This installs on both your iPhone and Apple Watch and will record a GPS Track that can be exported from the app and imported to Dinghy Coach.
Garmin or Corus watch or similar
Sports watches such as Garmin, Corus etc generally have apps built in that are dedicated to recording the activity. They typically sync tracks to locations such as Garmin Connect or Strava etc. There may be a smartphone app from the manufacturer that will export a track directly, otherwise login to the relevant site (such as Garmin Connect for a Garmin Watch, to Strava if you sync your activities to Strava) and export the track from there.
Look to export the “Original” file which will typically be a format such as .FIT or .GPX
Sailing computers
Vakaros, Sailteck and Sailmon are high end devices aimed directly at sailors offering high end features. Refer to the manufacturers information or use the appropriate app to export the track.
Dinghy Coach directly supports the Vakaros .VKX binary file format on Import.
