Track not appearing

Track not appearing

You expect a track to be in the library but can't find it. Work through the checks below.

1. Has it uploaded yet?

Android app: Open the app → Sessions. Find the session and check its status:

Status What to do
Synced It's in the cloud — continue to check 2
Uploading Wait a minute and check again
Pending The device isn't connected — connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data
Failed Tap the session and choose Retry upload

GPS watch / file upload: If you uploaded via the import page, the upload completes before the debrief opens. If the debrief opened, the track is there.

2. Is a filter hiding it?

In the Tracks tab at app.dinghy.coach/open, check that:

  • The date range includes the day the session was recorded (not just today)
  • No device code filter is active that would exclude the track
  • The venue filter isn't set to a different location

Clear all filters to see all tracks, then search again.

3. Is it a short session?

Sessions shorter than 5 minutes don't upload automatically from the Android app. The sailor needs to upload manually: open the Sessions screen, tap the session, and choose Upload.

4. Did the recording actually start?

Ask the sailor: did the Sailing HUD appear? If they're not sure, check the Sessions screen on their phone — if there's no session for that day, recording didn't start. The most common cause is the hold-to-activate not being held long enough (requires a full 1-second hold).

5. Did GPS acquire before recording stopped?

If recording started indoors or immediately on launch, the GPS may not have acquired satellites before the sailor stopped recording. A track with no GPS data won't appear in the library because it has no position to display.

Fix: Ask the sailor to start recording while outdoors with a clear sky view and wait for the speed display to show a value before starting the exercise.

6. Check the track exists with admin access

If you have admin access, go to app.dinghy.coach/admin/tracks and search without filters. If the track appears here but not in the public library, check the upload status column.

Still can't find it? See Upload failed for upload error diagnostics.
